Los Angeles, Sept 10: Daniel Edwards, the sculptor behind Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez's nude statue, has created a tattoo-less bust of the late singer Amy Winehouse.
New York artist Daniel Edwards has sculpted a “Memorial Portrait for Amy Winehouse,” which features the late singer without her signature tattoos and piercings. Instead, Edwards opted to incorporate a songbird and lilies into her hair, reports Hollywood Reporter.
“I thought of her as a beautifully delicate fairytale princess, waiting to be rescued from fame and addiction, but her prince never came,” said Edwards.
“I had always expected to sculpt her portrait, but I was waiting for her to put some of her troubles behind her. She had made me pay attention to contemporary music again.”
Similarly to his widely publicized “Justin & Selena Forever” statue, featuring a nude Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, Winehouse topless and with a pronounced ribcage.
“The portrait of Amy is dedicated to those struggling with addiction and eating disorder,” added the artist's rep, Cory Allen. “Nobody should have to go through what Amy went through.”
Edwards has previously made headlines for his unusual works including “Justin & Selena Forever” and “Monument to Pro-Life: The Birth of Sean Preston” featuring a pregnant Britney Spears.
