London, Mar 2: Bon Jovi frontman Jon Bon Jovi celebrates his 50th birthday on 2nd Mar'12.
The star found worldwide fame with rock back Bon Jovi after their 1986 breakthrough album “Slippery When Wet,” which included smash hit singles “You Give Love a Bad Name” and “Livin' On A Prayer.”
Together with bandmates David Bryan, Richie Sambora and Tico Torres, he has been received a number of awards, including a Grammy for their country duet with Jennifer Nettles, “Who Says You Can't Go Home.”
In 2009 he and guitarist Richie Sambora were inducted into the Songwriters' Hall of Fame in recognition of their anthems, which also include “Wanted Dead or Alive” and “Blaze of Glory.”
The star also branched out into acting, appearing in movies including the recent “New Year's Eve,” “Pay It Forward,” and TV shows “Sex and the City” and “Ally McBeal.”
The singer, born John Francis Bonjiovi, in New Jersey 2 March 1962, shares his birthday with fellow musician Lou Reed (70) and the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev (81).
The star's official website invites fans to mark his half century by sending an e-card or video message, or by making a donation to the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation, which supports community projects to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness.
