London, July 22: Singer Ozzy Osbourne has warned youngsters against drugs following the death of actor Cory Monteith.

The 64-year-old too battled addictions for years, and admitted that because he survived it, people shouldn't assume that they can live the same way.

Monteith died because of an overdose of a mix of heroin and alcohol and was found in his hotel room in Vancouver July 13. Osbourne is keen young people don't make the same mistakes, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

"I went through all that and I survived. But I haven't got that many friends who I used to do it with. They're all dead... I'm living on borrowed time. Don't think that if Ozzy Osbourne can stay alive through it, that you can. It doesn't work like that," he was quoted him as saying.

The "Crazy Train" singer explained he used to think drugs and alcohol boosted his creativity but later realised it was crap.

He said: "I used to think that I couldn't write songs or perform without a drug or a drink inside me and that's just a load of c**p.

"You don't need alcohol and you don't need drugs to make music and have fun. In recent months I had another go at it and it nearly destroyed me again," he added.
