Basketball star Tony Parker has said he wasn't surprised by his wife Eva Longoria's decision to file for divorce, reports Daily Mail, London.
'Eva and I have been discussing our situation privately,' he said in a statement. 'I was aware that she would be filing for divorce in Los Angeles.'
Speaking through his spokesman he told People magazine that he had not filed for divorce first, contrary to online reports.
The 28-year-old said: 'I did not file for divorce in Texas and did not hire divorce attorneys in either Texas or California. We plan to continue to keep our discussions of this matter private.'
It was the first statement from Parker since a joint tweet from the estranged couple announcing the divorce. Desperate Housewives star Longoria, 35, filed for divorce in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
She has since remained out of public view, cancelling her planned appearances. But she did confide in friend and television presenter Mario Lopez that she had discovered texts from another woman on her husband's phone.
The woman was named in reports as Erin Barry, 37, who is estranged from her husband, former NBA basketball star Brent Barry, Parker's former teammate.
