Los Angeles, July 20: Actress Kerry Washington, who recently got married, has also secured her first Emmy Awards nomination and feels she is blessed.
The 36-year-old actress, who tied the knot with American football cornerback, Nnamdi Asomugha, in Idaho last month, got the Emmy nomination for her political thriller "Scandal", where she plays Olivia Pope, reports people.com.
"I'm the luckiest broad in showbiz. I just feel really blessed and humbled and grateful for this nomination," she said.
Washington, who was at an airport in northern California when she received the news, had no time to celebrate.
"I had my dog with me and I was trying to get water for the plane in that hurried, crazy airport mode. I'm going to celebrate with my 'Scandal' family after we have our table read today," she added.
When the actress was asked about being a new bride, she said: "I don't talk about my personal life in the press, but I will say I'm really happy. I'm blessed in all areas of my life."
As for the Emmy Awards, which is scheduled for Sep 22, Washington is not sure who will be her date on the awards night.
"I have not decided who will be my date. That was my parents' question this morning! We'll see," she said.
