Berlin, Feb 12: It was a glamorous night at the Berlin Film Festival on Saturday when Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt walked the red carpet for the premiere of “In the Land of Blood and Honey.”
They were joined by cast-members from the movie for it's European launch.
The film marks a directorial debut for Jolie and the Hollywood actress said that it was very important to her to get the movie shown at the festival.
“It's the one that you send your film in to see if you'll be able to show it at the Berlin Film Festival and it was the one we all had our fingers crossed for saying ‘oh, I hope they accept us in,' because it means so much,” she said.
“Really they are so careful about their films and they are so responsible about so many issues and they have so many things going on here. I always love to do press in Berlin because of the conversations we get into and the things that they focus on. It was the one that we were so, so hoping so we are all very excited.”
And while the actress loves the historical city, she admits that her children are more keen on its modern attractions.
“Some of them are still young so they wanted to go to Legoland, so we went to Legoland,” laughed Jolie.
“In the Land of Blood and Honey” is set during the 1990s conflict in the former Yugoslavia.
It is a drama about a Serb soldier who finds his ex-lover, a Bosnian Muslim woman, among sex slaves in a camp.
It is Jolie's first film as a writer and director and cast members were quick to reveal how down to earth the star was on set.
“Yes, she's wonderful,” said actress Vanesa Glodjo.
“I was surprised that she's so humble, so simple, so fantastic, so easy going, a very talented director, an extremely talented actress and I think she will do many, many films.”
