New Delhi: “The Amazing Spider-Man” director Marc Webb has thanked Indian audience for the record-breaking response the film has received here.
The June 29 release garnered 34 crores in the opening weekend and has earned up to 62 crores up till now. It released in India three days ahead of the US.
In a letter to his Indian friends, Webb said, “Thank you for making The Amazing Spider-Man Hollywood's number one opening film of all time in India. It's so great to have your support.
“Spider-Man is a character that many Indians have grown up with and hold dear to their hearts. We are honored to be part of the continuing legacy of Spider-Man in India.”
“We hope that you will continue to offer us the same support in the weeks to come as The Amazing Spider-Man continues its record-breaking run at the Indian box office,” Webb added.
The film, which is a reboot of the comics-inspired superhero film franchise, stars Andrew Garfield in the titular role and Emma Stone plays his girlfriend Gwen Stacy.
In the role of the villain is Rhys Ifans and to boss him is Indian actor Irrfan Khan.
