The much-awaited 91st Academy Awards, which began in Los Angeles this morning came to an end with Green Book winning the top prize. Several films such as Roma, Black Panther and Bohemian Rhapsody won big at the Oscars 2019. The star-studded event began with rock band Queen's electrifying performance. They instilled energy into the audience of the host-less event. Queen began with 'We will rock you' and ended with 'We are the champions'. Actor Jordan Peele was seen enjoying the performance while Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez were singing along.
It is for the first time in 30 years, that the award gala was held without an official host. This comes after comedian Kevin Hart stepped down after being slammed over some past 'homophobic' remarks. India also marked its spot at the 91st Oscars. Period. End of Sentence, a film set in India on the taboos around menstruation wins an Oscar in Documentary Short Subject category. Produced by Guneet Monga and directed by Iranian-American filmmaker Rayka Zehtabchi, the film talks about menstrual hygiene and how women of Hapur village in UP led a revolution by fighting against the deeply-rooted stigma.
