Veteran actor Shreeram Lagoo died of age-related issues at a private hospital in Pune on Tuesday. He was 92.

Veteran actor Shreeram Lagoo took his last breath on December 17 and passed away at the age of 92 in Pune. The popular actor and social activist was being treated at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital for the last few days, says reports. His contribution to the Marathi and Hindi cinema is enormous. He acted in more than 100 Hindi and Marathi films, over 40 Marathi, Hindi, and Gujarati plays, and has directed more than 20 Marathi plays. 

Born on November 16, 1927, Lagoo was also an ENT surgeon. Twitter was flooded with tributes for the actor. Writer Gautam Chintamani wrote, "Saddened to learn about Dr. Shreeram Lagoo’s death. Most in my generation of non-Marathi speaking fans discovered him via Hindi films, in my case, Lawaaris, which began a life long journey of imbibing his great works. Dr Lagoo was a legend in every sense of the word."

Prakash Javadekar wrote on Twitter, "My tributes to all time great artist Shreeram Lagoo. We have lost a versatile personality. A unique theatre actor dominated silver screen and created impact. He was social activists simultaneously."

The medical career of Sriram Lagoo began in 1930 after which he went on to do theater. He has been part of various plays like Here Oshala to Death, Natsamrat, and films like Mukta, Cage, etc.
