Fans of megastar Amitabh Bachchan have, for years now, followed the ritual of swarming him residence -- Jalsa -- every Sunday to have a glimpse of him. And the legendary actor has always obliged them -- provided he's in the city.
But this Sunday was an exception.
Amitabh Bachchan could not come out and greet his fans owing to his ill-health. The megastar later took to Twitter to apologise to his fans.
Big B tweeted: "T 3524 - I convalesce .. but they still come for the Sunday meet .. my apologies .. could not come out .."
Amitabh Bachchan had been admitted to the Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai for three days due to liver-related ailments. Conflicting reports about his health confused his fans when, finally, on Friday, he was discharged in presence of his wife Jaya Bachchan and son Abhishek.
The megastar has been surviving on just 25 per cent of his liver which he revealed in an awareness video by UNICEF. He contracted Hepatitis B virus in 1982 when he was transfused with infected blood post a fatal accident on the sets of his movie Coolie in 1982.
On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan has Brahmastra, Gulaabo Sitaabo and Chehre in the pipeline.
