Sanjay Leela Bhansali -- the name is often associated with grandeur and lavishness of the sets. His films 'Padmaavat' and 'Bajirao Mastani' bear testimony to his taste. So when it was announced that he would be helming Gangubai Kathiawadi with Alia Bhatt in the lead, people expected the movie to be grandiose.

But this is a little untrue -- because Gangubai Kathiawadi is in the process of being a little more on the scale of magnificience. So much so that even Alia Bhatt was left speechless when she saw the sets.

Alia recently visited the sets of the film and was stupefied.

"Alia Bhatt was passing by and was completely awestruck by the magnanimity of the sets. The movie set for Gangubai Kathiawadi is not just larger than life but also a lot more grand and beautiful than Sanjay sir’s earlier films like Padmaavat and Ram Leela. There is a lot of fine detailing that has gone into the making of the set and it is bigger than what anyone would have ever since," a report published in Pinkvilla suggested.

Gangubai Kathiawadi will also have Ajay Devgn in a cameo. "It is not a full-fledged part but a special appearance. It is a very interesting role. An official statement in this regard will be made soon," a PTI report said.

Ajay Devgn last worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali 20 years ago in 1999 blockbuster Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. The film also starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Salman Khan.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is scheduled to hit the theatres on September 11, 2020.
