Vicky Kaushal is known for his purity in his acting and the kind of versatility he posses. His movies have left an everlasting impression on the minds of people. Be it Raazi, URI: The Surgical Strike, Masaan, Sanju, Vicky's performances have always managed to steal the limelight. Now, after the successful hit URI: The SUrgical Strike, Vicky Kaushal will be next seen in Shoojit Sircar's Sardar Udham Singh.
Sardar Udham Singh is a biopic based on the life of Indian revolutionary, Udham Singh. As the makers of the movie revealed the first look of Vicky Kaushal as Sardar Udham Singh, the audience started singing in praise of the actor. However, what caught more attention was a scar on Vicky's face. He has been dressed as an Englishman who went in a search of the culprit who had been responsible for the Jallainwala Bagh Massacre in 1919. The scar on Vicky's face is actually the real one. It is an injury on Vicky's cheekbone which took place sometime back.
In an interview with Mid-Day, a source revealed that Vicky’s scar of the cheekbone injury will be used by the director in the film. According to the reports by Mid Day, "When he (Vicky) reported to the set in Russia, Shoojit and the team decided to use the scar prominently instead of hiding it with makeup. They felt that a facial scar, instead of one on the arm, would serve well as a reminder of that fateful day to the protagonist and depict his anguish more strongly. So, it worked out well for the film's first look.”
In fact, in reality too, Udham Singh got hurt during the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Vicky Kaushal got hurt in the face as a result got 13 stitches too. Thus, Shoojit Sircar used this as a real injury in the film. Shoojit Sircar said, “We had a scar in the film already; so fortunately or unfortunately, it helped our look.”
The movie is set to hit the theates in the year 2020.
