Royal Wedding Date
Prince Harry -formally known as Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales and Meghan Markle's wedding will take place on 5:30 PM IST (12 p.m. GMT) May 19, 2018, in an hour-long ceremony.
The date is a Saturday which is unusual, as most British royal weddings take place on a weekday.
Royal Wedding venue
The British royal wedding will be held in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle that will be officiated by the Dean of Windsor, the Right Reverend David Conner and the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, said Kensington Palace, the royal residence where Harry lives.
The 15th-Century chapel is as historic but more intimate than Westminster Abbey, where Prince William married Kate Middleton in 2011. The queen is also very involved in the College of St. George, according to its website.
When the engagement was announced, the palace said the wedding will "reflect [the couple’s] characters and personalities" and be a moment of "fun and joy."
After the ceremony, the royal couple will undertake a carriage procession from St George's Chapel through Windsor Town and then return to Windsor Castle.
"They hope this short journey will provide an opportunity for more people to come together around Windsor and to enjoy the atmosphere of this special day," the palace said.
After the service and carriage ride, the two will head to St. George’s Hall for a reception with all of the wedding guests, followed by a private evening reception “for the couple and their close friends and family,” hosted by Prince Charles.
Prince Harry, 33, and Markle, 36, are “hugely grateful for the many good wishes they have received since announcing their engagement,” the palace added. “They are very much looking forward to the day and to being able to share their celebrations with the public.”
What needs to happen before the wedding?
As previously reported, Markle, who is Protestant, will be baptized and confirmed into the Church of England (and will also become a British citizen) prior to the nuptials.
Wedding guests’ list
Harry's grandmother Queen Elizabeth II and other royals are expected to attend the wedding, along with Markle's parents, Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland.
As per reports, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle to attend their spring wedding. But the British government is reportedly concerned that President Donald Trump will take it as a snub.
In a BBC interview, when asked about Obamas’ possible presence, Prince Harry replied, "I don’t know about that – we haven’t even put the invite or the guest list together. Who knows if he’s going to be invited or not? I wouldn't want to ruin that surprise."
The Royal couple’s honeymoon plans:
After the wedding, Markle and Prince Harry will likely head out on their honeymoon (the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge chose a secret Seychelles island for their getaway). Once they get back, the two will live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.
