Varun Dhawan is one of the those few Bollywood actors who is known for doing both masala and offbeat films. His performance in Shoojit Sircar's October was praised by both the audiences as well as critics and now the actor is all set to bring his new avatar to the audience with Sui Dhaaga: Made In India. Varun says that his aim is to pick characters which will give him an opportunity to explore the "real" stories.
The 31-year-old actor said Sui Dhaaga made him aware about the struggles Indian craftsmen go through to make their art survive. "I want to do films which give me a reality check. After doing Sui Dhaaga, my whole outlook towards designing as a profession has changed. I have so much more respect for people who create clothes and the artistes who do the work. It is not an easy job. I understand a lot more about what India's textile heritage is and I feel proud of it. It’s an art and I have tremendous respect for the artistes behind it. The film has been an emotional journey and has made me really aware about the struggles these artistes have," Varun said.
The actor plays the role of a tailor, Mauji, in the film which also features Anushka Sharma. Directed by Sharat Katariya and produced by Maneesh Sharma under the banner of Yash Raj Films, the Sui Dhaaga: Made In India is set to release on September 28.
