Akshay Kumar is all set to blow away your minds with his next film Sooryavanshi. Ever since the makers of the film, Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar, announced the cop drama, fans have been waiting to see the first glimpse of the actor as the fire-packed policeman and here it is. Akshay took to his Twitter on Tuesday morning to share the first posters ‘from the universe of Singham and Simmba’.
Akshay wrote, “From #RohitShetty’s Police universe, get ready for the fire-packed #Sooryavanshi, releasing on Eid 2020!”. On another poster, he wrote, “A bullet for a bullet! Get ready for #RohitShetty’s #Sooryavanshi on Eid 2020. Action-packed, masala intact!” In the posters, Akshay Kumar is seen as an ATS officer ready to fight the criminals. This is Akshay Kumar’s first collaboration with Rohit Shetty. Check out the posters here-
Rohit Shetty’s last flick Simmba managed to rake in big numbers in a few days and became his eight blockbuster film with over Rs 350 crore box office collection. Continuing with the universe of cop-dramas, Rohit Shetty collaborated with Akshay Kumar and the film is said to go on floors from April. The buzz also has it that the film will reunite Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif as well.
Going by the reports in Pinkvilla, a source revealed to the tabloid, “Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif have delivered many blockbusters at the box office and their pair is an extremely popular one with fans and at the boxoffice. While Tees Maar Khan was their last movie together, they have been approached by many filmmakers to do a movie together but Katrina has turned them down as she’s been looking for a strong role opposite Akshay. Akshay will be seen in the role of ATS officer Veer Suryavanshi in this comedy-drama film apparently, the actress who is paired romantically opposite him, will play his girlfriend and wife who is a pillar of support to him in a background full of corruption and intrigue. It’s a strong role and Katrina is definitely being considered as one of the options and approached for the same. It’s all very hush-hush right now till everything is finalised.”
The source adds, “Rohit has not worked with Katrina before and last year too there was talk that the actress was in talks with the filmmaker for Simmba but it fizzled out. This time Katrina may find it tough to say no as Rohit Shetty is now the first Bollywood director whose eight consecutive films (with Simmba) have earned over Rs. 100 crore at the box office and every actor and actress is vying to work with him. Katrina is yet to sign a film after Bharat so her dates diary is open at present. Sooryavanshi shoot starts from mid-2019 and Bharat would have released by then.”
On a related note, Akshay Kumar has his hands full this year. His movie Kesari, which will also have Parineeti Chorpa in a lead role, will hit the theatres in March 21. The Indian period war drama is helmed by Anurag Singh. Also, the actor will be seen in comedy drama Housefull 4.
