Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali broke the internet when on Tuesday he announced that his next Bollywood film will feature superstar Salman Khan and powerhouse of talent Alia Bhatt together. The news made cinephiles beam with joy as the ace filmmaker is known to make larger than life films. With the film Inshallah, Salman Khan will be reuniting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali after 20 years and it is Alia Bhatt’s first time with the filmmaker. The actors’ excitement for the film is quite evident with their tweets but the netizens were quite amused by the 30 years gap between the two actors. Just after the announcement of the film, a throwback picture of Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt went viral on the internet.
In the picture doing rounds on the social media, Salman Khan is seen holding baby Alia Bhatt. The picture has been making much noise with people saying “Who would’ve thought they will work together as a lead pair. #Inshallah.” Netizens have even started joining Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt’s names together and making “Salmalia” a trend on social media. Salman Khan on Tuesday welcomed Alia Bhatt on board Inshallah and tweeted, “It’s been 20 years but I am glad Sanjay and I are finally back in his next film, Inshallah. Looking forward to work with Alia and inshallah we will all be blessed on this journey.” Alia on the other hand also shared her excitement to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and wrote, “Dream with your eyes wide open they say & I did. Sanjay Sir and Salman Khan are magical together & I can’t wait to join them on this beautiful journey called Inshallah.” She also tweeted, “I was 9 when I first walked into Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s office, all nervous and hoping and praying that I would be in his next film. It’s been a long wait.”
In an interview to Mid-Day, Sanjay Leela Bhansali informed, “Alia is a talented actor, who I knew I would direct someday. As a director, it's always a pleasure to work with actors of their calibre, but best things happen when the time is right. Today, when the time felt right and the right roles came along, we decided to walk on this new journey.”
Further details about the project are awaited. On a related note, Alia Bhatt will be next seen in a period movie Kalank with Varun Dhawan and other Bollywood actors. The film is slated to release on April 17.
