Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy has broken the internet in just a few hours of dropping on the internet. Fans are not only in love with the rapper Ranveer in the film but Alia Bhatt’s fighter bold and fighter avatar is attracting much appreciations. While it is difficult to say that there is any other actor who could have pulled the roles like Ranveer and Alia did in the Zoya Akhtar’s film, surprisingly it is revealed that Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor was also offered the film but he refused to do it.
At the trailer launch of the Bollywood film Gully boy, Ranveer Singh himself claimed that the character was written for him and had any other actor from the industry done it, he would have been jealous. However, the reports suggest that other than Ranveer, Sanju actor Ranbir Kapoor was also asked to do a role in the film but he refused. The rumour mongers suggest that director Zoya Akhtar approached Ranbir Kapoor after finalizing Ranveer in the lead as she wanted him to do a secondary character in the film but the superstar wasn’t ready to the anything but lead so he rejected the film. This all happened two and a half years ago when Zoya Akhtar was locking the film’s cast.
Surprisingly, this is not the first time that Ranbir has said no to Zoya Akhtar. The actor was offered to play Ranveer’s role in the film Dil Dhadakne Do but he refused it. Before that, Ranbir was also asked by Zoya Akhtar to join Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara as well but he didn’t come on board back them also. On the other hand, Ranbir Kapoor’s now girlfriend Alia Bhatt is playing the lead in the film and Ranveer Singh’s love interest.
Both Alia and Ranveer went candid at the trailer launch of the film. The actress was even asked to tell similarities between her boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor and co-star Ranveer Singh. To this Alia Bhatt replied, "There are lots of similarities. Both are superb human beings and outstanding actors. Both of them are really special to me and the only difference between them is that with one of them I am doing 'Gully Boys' and with the other I am doing 'Brahmastra'."
Taking advantage of her answer, Ranveer comments that one is more special to her than other and leaves Alia Bhatt blushing. Talking about the film, Zoya Akhtar directorial drama Gully Boy is based on the life and struggles of rappers Divine and Naezy. The film will hit the theatres on February 14th.
