Allah Rakha Rahman, who is popularly known as AR Rahman, is a great Indian music maestro. Born on January 6, 1966, his works are notable for integrating Eastern classical music with electronic music sounds, world music genres and traditional orchestral arrangements.
Rahman, who is the world's most prominent and prolific film music composer by Time, has won two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, BAFTA Award, Golden Globe, four National Film Awards, 15 Filmfare Awards and 13 Filmfare Awards South in addition to numerous other awards and nominations.
Padma Bhushan awardee, Rahman has worked with many influential Indian poets and lyricists such as Javed Akhtar, Gulzar, Vairamuthu and Vaali. The musician has also contributed in hit Bollywood films in collaboration with great filmmakers like Deepa Mehta, Mani Ratnam, Ashutosh Gowariker, Subhash Ghai, Imtiaz Ali and others.
