We were delightfully surprised to see Alia Bhatt playing the role of a rebellious woman in Gully Boy trailer, especially after seeing her as a demure Kashmiri bride in Raazi. In the trailer, the actress is seen delivering typical Gunda one liners and also smashing a beer bottle on a woman’s head. During the trailer launch, Alia was asked if she would do the same in her real life if someone tried to get cosy to her boyfriend (Ranbir Kapoor). To this she replied that she is a very non-violent person in real life. However, her father and renowned filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has a completely different say about it. He tweeted a picture of her daughter Alia Bhatt in the Safina avatar delivering the famous dialogue, ‘Mere boyfriend se gulu gulu karegi toh dhoptungi na usko’. He wrote, “Alia is a Gundi”
In the trailer, Alia Bhatt is talking to her love interest Ranveer Singh and defending herself for smashing a bottle on someone’s head. It’s not clear if the woman she smashed the bottle at was Kalki Koechlin or some other actor from the film.
Gully Boy’s trailer was launched on January 9 at a grand launch event. The film is based on the life of rapper Divine and Naezy who grew up in Mumbai slums and made a cut in the music industry. They are now one of the leading rappers in the country.
The film stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Kalki Koechlin in the lead roles. The duo will also be seen in Takht directed by Karan Johar. Recently, the duo along with Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar, Sidharth Malhotra, Vicky Kaushal and Varun Dhawan went to Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss important issues.
