Writer Kamlesh Pandey and filmmaker Lawrence D'Souza on Madhuri Dixit replacing Sridevi in a film
Sridevi's daughter, Janhvi Kapoor, shared the news through an Instagram post, wherein she also mentioned that this film was very close to her mother's heart.
Veteran actress Madhuri Dixit Nene has been signed on for the part in 2 States fame director Abhishek Varman's next that was earlier supposed to be played by Sridevi. The film, which is being produced Karan Johar was speculated to be Shiddat. However, the director clarified that the film’s name is not Shiddat and that further details of the film would be out soon. Now, veteran writer Kamlesh Pandey spoke about Madhuri Dixit replacing in the film in an exclusive interview with India TV.
Kamlesh Pandey has worked with Madhuri Dixit in films such as Tezaab, Beta and others and with Sridevi in films like Chaalbaaz.
“Both the actresses are versatile and have own style of acting. After Chaalbaaz Sridevi was not getting proper roles however Madhuri Dixit got roles one after the other which took her to super stardom. It is good that Madhuri will reprise role which late Sridevi was supposed to play. There could not have been any better option. It will be interesting to see how Madhuri Dixit will play that role”, the writer said.
Meanwhile, filmmaker Lawrence D' Souza also commented on Madhuri Dixit replacing Sridevi in the film. "It is true that with Madhuri Dixit coming and making a mark, there was shift in audience liking at that time though both were brilliant actress. There was competition in terms of things like both of them wanted choreographer Saroj Khan for themselves".
He further added, " It is only Madhuri Dixit who could have done justice to role which was for Sridevi. Hence it is perfect choice. Everyone will look forward to the film.".
Lawrence D' Souza has worked with both Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit.

Sridevi died of accidental drowning in Dubai. She was in the country to attend nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding. Her ashes were immersed in Haridwar by husband Boney Kapoor and brother-in-law Anil Kapoor.
Sridevi began her career at the age of four in the devotional film "Thunaivan", and went on to work in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi productions.
