Janhvi Kapoor celebrated her 22nd birthday with a lowkey celebration with her father Boney Kapoor and sister Khushi Kapoor. Instead of having a star-studded party, the actress chose to kept it simple and private to pay tribute to her mother Sridevi who passed last year on February 25th. Janhvi was shooting for her upcoming film, Gunjan Saxena biopic, in Lucknow when Boney and Khushi Kapoor joined her and they celebrated her birthday by cutting a cake with a sword.
Janhvi took to her Instagram to share pictures from the private birthday celebrations and even revealed that she got the best birthday gift from father Boney Kapoor. The actress shared a picture of her father holding a box of nutties and for Janhvi it was the best birthday gift. She also shared pictures of her room decorated with balloons and a heart made up of messages written on paper. The decorations were credited to her half-sister, Anshula Kapoor. Janhvi’s half-brother Arjun Kapoor also took to Instagram to share heartfelt wishes for the actress and wrote, “Ok see I found an unused picture @janhvikapoor happy birthday hope this year is the beginning of you discovering urself & realising the world is ur oyster... Stay grateful stay humble & stay grounded.... Also I hope truly that u give us the same love this year that u give Pankoo ji!!!” The picture is from their first appearance together on Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan.
In a Mumbai Mirror interview, Janhvi spoke about the decision to celebrate in Varanasi -- she is currently filming the Gunjan Saxena biopic in Uttar Pradesh, reportedly titled Kargil Girl. She said, “We drove to Varanasi after the day’s work so I could see the Ganga aarti and go to the Kashi Vishwanath temple.” She had intended to travel to Tirupati, but ‘arrangements could not be made’. “I wanted to visit Tirupati again. Mom (Sridevi) used to climb up to the temple every year for her birthday when she was working. I went there earlier this year and wanted to go again on my birthday, but arrangements couldn’t be made on time I might go next week,” she said.
