Bollywood actor-producer Rakesh Roshan has been diagnosed with "squamous cell carcinoma of the throat" (throat cancer) and he will undergo a surgery today for the same. His son Hrithik Roshan announced the news of his illness in an Instagram post on Tuesday. Now, Hrithik's ex-wife Sussanne Khan has sent speedy recovery wish to Rakesh Roshan.
Hrithik Roshan took to his official Instagram handle and shared the news by posting the following picture and captioning it, "Asked my dad for a picture this morning. Knew he wouldnt miss gym on surgery day. He is probably the strongest man I know. Got diagnosed with early-stage squamous cell carcinoma of the throat a few weeks ago, but he is in full spirits today as he proceeds to battle it. As a family we are fortunate and blessed to have a leader like him. Love you Dad."
As soon as the Krishh actor broke this news, fans and B-town celebs wished a speedy recovery to Rakesh Roshan. Amidst all the wishes, Hrithik Roshan’s ex-wife Sussanne Khan too left a message on Hrithik’s post for her ex-father-in-law and she wrote, “He is stronger than any superhero, all will go smoothly.”

Hrithik Roshan’s sister, Sunaina Roshan has earlier fought cancer and emerged victorious after fighting her cervical cancer in 2014. She once shared, “I want to inspire people across the globe. If the blog is a success maybe, I’ll think of a book and go on a show like Ted Talks. I want to tell people that I am a survivor and not a victim”.
On the work front, Rakesh Roshan will reportedly helm the fourth installment of the popular Krrish franchise, which would see Hrithik returning as the caped crusader. Speculation is rife that the actor would play the superhero as well as the villain in the film.
Roshan Sr had promised to up the ante in Krrish 4, with world-class action sequences and VFX. "We will rope in international action director for the film. We want to up the scale of action and VFX. Show something that is not done," he had told PTI.
Krrish 4 is slated to hit the theatres on Christmas 2020.
