From a small town girl in RNBDJ to a NASA scientist with cerebral palsy in Zero, Anushka Sharma is raising the bar with every role

Anushka Sharma is portraying a NASA scientist with cerebral palsy in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zero and it was a draining experience for her to fit into the character.

From portraying a friendly ghost in her home production Phillauri to essaying a caring homemaker in social drama Sui Dhaaga, Anushka has done it all effortlessly and with ease. Now as a leading lady in renowned filmmaker Aanand L Rai’s fantasy/drama Zero, Anushka is all set to prove her niche once again.

Anushka’s filmography has been a mix of fun, drama, deadly, sporty and romantic shades. Remember Aarfa Ali Khan (Anushka’s character in Sultan) from Ali Abbas Zafar’s directorial venture Sultan who even dared to slap Salman Khan in a fight sequence. And the way she heroically bashed up the scoundrels in her production venture NH10, is still fresh in our minds. 

Anushka always had that spark in her eyes to rise high and achieve big and luckily filmmakers noticed it in her starting days when she confidently made her presence felt opposite King Khan Shah Rukh in her Bollywood debut film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (RNBDJ). There has been no looking back for Anushka since. The actress gave series of hits including Band Baaja Baaraat, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, PK, Pari, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Sui Dhaaga, Sanju and many others.

In her career span of 10 years, Anushka has essayed various shades of characters, but she still agrees that it has never been an easy task to fit into any character. 

She is portraying a NASA scientist with cerebral palsy in Zero and it was a draining experience for Anushka to fit into the character. She was supposed to recreate involuntary spasm for which she made many tiring efforts. She continuously sat on a wheelchair in Zero.

Anushka’s saga is quite gripping and interesting as the lady has set a benchmark for many by breaking many stereotypes in the film industry, which includes marrying at right time, working post marriage and many more similar things.
