Shakeela Biopic is certainly one of the most awaited biopics currently, based on the real life story of Shakeela, 90s adult film star who started with small roles and turned into a massive superstar. Her career at a point was so envious that male superstars of the era would fear of their films releasing alongside a Shakeela film.
The team of Shakeela have now unveiled the logo of the film and a tag line ‘Not a porn star’, that’s both undaunted and unabashed. Steering away from the stereotypical image that Shakeela has in minds of people of being a soft porn actor, the film challenges the audiences and is set to give them the depth story of the woman behind the phenomenon of an unlikely superstar. The biopic promises to delve into her life, her growing up years, her influences which director Indrajit Lankesh has tried to bring to the table. With Richa Chadha playing the title role, we are certain that we will get to see a power packed performance.
Talking about Shakeela, actress Richa Chadha said in a statement: "She was a brave soul who defied norms of the business during her time and her story was much more than what people know of. To essay the role of a living being is additional responsibility on me as actor and team as the makers of the film."
She added: "I'm looking forward now that the film has wrapped up for the release next year. We have kept the story to the most authentic version of her real life. Shakeela herself has been pivotal to making this film happen and helping us in in-depth knowledge into her life which has helped us tell the story in its most authentic version possible."
The Indrajit Lankesh film is co-produced by Magic Cinemas and Yoddhas Entertainment. It is slated to release in Summer 2019.
