The actor studied from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai and then joined Indian People's Theatre Association. He acted in many plays before making his debut in films. He started his journey with Garam Hawa and played the role of Balraj Sahani’s son. After this, Farooque worked with many renowned faces of the industry and delivered powerful performances in films like Noorie, Umrao Jaan, Chasme Baddoor, Saath Saath and many more. He was a remarkable actor who knew how to maintain balance in films and TV.
Farooque even hosted a talk show Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai which was graced by many renowned celebrities. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was one of the last few films he did before his demise. He played the role of Ranbir Kapoor’s father in the movie and beautifully portrayed a man who allows his son to live life on his own terms.
