Noted choreographer and filmmaker, Farah Khan has finally broken silence on the ongoing sexual harassment allegations against brother Sajid Khan by several women. On Thursday, many women including actress Saloni Chopra alleged that Khan molested them in separate incidents. Ever since then, Twitter has been spewing anger over the filmmaker and even called out at Akshay Kumar and Farah Khan to say and do something about it. Consequently, Akshay Kumar halted the shoot of Housefull 4, which was being helmed by Sajid Khan.
A few hours later, Khan’s sister Farah Khan issued an official statement on sexual harassment allegations against her brother. Pouring her heart out on Twitter, she wrote, “This is a heartbreaking time for my family. We have to work through some very difficult issues. If my brother has behaved in this manner he has a lot to atone for.I don’t in any way endorse this behavior and Stand in solidarity with any woman who has been hurt.”
Earlier on Friday, Akshay Kumar announced that he has halted Housefull 4 shoot until the investigations against Sajid Khan is complete. He also made a point that he doesn’t wish to work with any sexual offender.
Akshay’s statement came out after his author wife Twinkle Khanna expressed anger over the #MeToo stories about Sajid Khan doing rounds on the internet. She called out at her husband Akshay Kumay and the rest of the Housefull 4 crew to do something about it.
#MeToo movement kickstarted in India after Bollywood’s long-lost actress Tanushree Dutta spoke bravely about the sexual harassment she faced at the hands of Nana Patekar back in 2008. It opened the Pandora’s box in Bollywood, with many actresses, journalists accusing celebrities of sexual harassment and molestation.
