Legendary Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor, the romantic screen icon of '70s and '80s, died today. He was 79.

Legendary actor, Shashi Kapoor breathed his last on December 4, 2017 , Monday in Mumbai. Actor Randhir Kapoor, son of veteran actor Raj Kapoor, confirmed the news. "Yes he has passed away. He had kidney problem since several years. He was on dialysis for several years," Randhir Kapoor said. He said Shashi Kapoor died at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning, he said.

Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar mourning the death of the legendary actor shared an emotional message on  his twitter account. He wrote, ‘’#RIPShashiKapoor ...the most charming and enigmatic actor ever...a gentleman movie star! His legacy in film and theatre is exceptional...thoughts and prayers with the family....his work will always live on...’’

Stand-up comedian Ali Asgar wrote, ''End of an era ..RIP Shashi Sir.'' 

Actress Shabana Azmi also shared a old pic of Shashi Kapoor and wrote, ''We will miss you ...''

Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar wrote an emotional message on her twitter account for Shashi Kapoor which read as, ''Mujhe abhi pata chala ki guni Abhineta Shashi Kapoor ji ka aaj swargwas hua .Ye sunkar mujhe bahut dukh hua, wo ek bahut bhale insaan the.
