Alia Bhatt, who is busy promoting her upcoming Bollywood film Kalank these days along with Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur, want to vote in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections but won’t be able to do it. Bollywood celebrities are one of the guiding forces which inspire the citizens of the country to step out and vote. Long before the process started, PM Narendra Modi himself took to twitter to request the celebs to push people and make them aware of their voting rights. However, during a round of interview recently when Alia Bhatt was asked about her vote, she revealed she wants to vote but can’t.

During an interview with India Today, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur were asked about how they were going to do their bit to elect the new government. To this Varun, Sonakshi and Aditya were quick to reply, "By voting." Varun futher added, "I think we all will be voting and it's important. In Maharashtra, there's still some time for election to begin for us to go vote. We all will be going and voting and doing our duty and electing the government officials we feel fit to come into power." When the interviewer specifically asked Alia if she was also going to vote, the actress replied, "I can't vote." When asked for the reason, Alia simply said, "passport."

For the unversed, Alia Bhatt doesn’t hold an Indian passport as she has British citizenship. Alia and her mother Soni Razdan enjoy dual citizenship however, according to Indian rules, one isn’t allowed to vote in this case. Alia has to give up her British citizenship if she wants to vote in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.

Recently, Alia Bhatt also witnessed flames from actress Kangana Ranaut who called her performance in her film Gully Boy as mediocre and said she is embarrassed to compete with her. Reacting to the same, Alai Bhatt said, "I respect Kangana’s work a lot and I respect her opinion. If she feels a particular way she must have reason to feel that way. I would rather remember how much she had praised me after watching Raazi. And I’d just like to focus on my work. Maybe she will appreciate me again if I work hard enough.”

Talking about Kalank, it is Abhishek Varman's period drama which revolves around the Indo-Pakistan partition. It stars Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead roles. Kalank is slated to release on April 17.
