After the much-popular fitness challenge that swarmed over Bollywood, celebrities have come together for another great cause- #BeatPlasticPollution. On the occasion of World Environment Day 2018, Bollywood celebrities have shared the steps they have taken for a sustainable life, following the theme of Beat Plastic Pollution. Recently UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador and Bollywood actress Dia Mirza shared a picture of plastic litter on social media which raised concerns over the impact of plastic on our environment. Similarly, Bollywood Queen Kangana Ranaut wears a plastic bag on her face to spread awareness about the amount of growing plastic in rivers and seas. She says in a video that in 30 years there will be more plastic in sea and fishes.
Coming forward to show her concern over the pressing issue, Raazi actress Alia Bhatt challenges her Bollywood buddies for a new social media challenge to say no to plastic.
Alia Took to her Twitter to share a photographer of hers in which she is seen switching to steel bottle from a plastic bottle in order to save the environment. She wrote, “#BeatPlasticPollution by switching to steel or glass bottles today! Plastic bottles take 450 years or more to decompose, harming us and our environment. I’m now one step closer towards purging plastic from my life. Hope you guys will make the switch too!#LetsCoexist @deespeak”
Later, Alia again turned to social media to challenges her ‘environment-friendly’ friends, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, to take up the challenge as well and pitch in to save nature from the harmful effects of plastic.
Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor was quick to take up the challenge. He took to his social media and wrote, “It takes one small step to #BeatPlasticPollution! I’ve replaced using plastic bottles with a metal one. It’s convenient & environment-friendly. Tagging @AnushkaSharma @RanveerOfficial & @ParineetiChopra to take up the challenge & inspire others to choose a sustainable future.”
Arjun further challenged actors Anushka Sharma, Ranveer Singh and Parineeti Chopra to come forward and inspire the masses.
Even actress Aditi Rao Hydari took up the challenge and inspired others to opt for a sustainable life.
Bollywood actors never shy away from coming forward when it comes to helping the society. Not just them, but everyone should take up this challenge in life and say no to plastic.
