Looks like IIFA 2018 will not turn out to be as grand as it has been every year. The three biggest Khans, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan, were already not a part of the event, that now another Bollywood biggie, Shahid Kapoor, has opted out of the event. The reason is the back injury which happened during the shooting of his upcoming film, Batti Gul Meter Chalu.
According to the reports in Midday, “Despite suffering a major back injury while shooting in Tehri last week, Shahid continued filming as he was required to wrap up the movie by mid-June. After returning to Mumbai earlier this week, he promptly dived into the dance rehearsals for his IIFA gig. It was while attempting a tricky step that he suffered a back spasm and was advised against any strenuous activity by the doctor. Although Shahid was scheduled to fly out to Thailand last night, he called off the plan. The IIFA organizers were fairly understanding about it.”
It is learned that Shahid’s spokesperson has also confirmed the same. In just two days, two performers have opted out of the event. Earlier Befikre actress, Vaani Kapoor also pulled out of the Bangkok awards gala as she suffered from a hamstring injury during her practice sessions.
With just two days left for the grand gala, the pressure lies on the shoulders of actors like Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor to add magic to the already starry night. Also, Rekha will be performing after two decades on the IIFA stage.
