Priyanka Chopra, who has been making huge headlines for opting out of Salman Khan’s Bharat, has now bagged another Hollywood project. The Desi Girl is all set to star opposite Chris Pratt in Cowboy Ninja Viking, according to a report in Variety. The role was one of the more highly coveted in town and Chopra beat out a slew of talent after a chemistry test with Pratt went extremely well, the report added.
The film is based on the Image Comics graphic novel by A.J. Lieberman and illustrator Riley Rossmo. It was adapted by Dan Mazeau (“Wrath of the Titans”) and Ryan Engle (“The Commuter”). Craig Mazin wrote an earlier draft of the screenplay with an original version by “Deadpool” writers Paul Wernick and Everett David Reese.
The novel revolves around an assassin who manifests the toughest skills of three different personas: a cowboy, a ninja, and a viking.
Entertainment 360 — the production arm of Management 360 — Mark Gordon via eOne, Michael De Luca for Michael De Luca Productions, and Pratt will produce. VP of production Sara Scott will oversee production on behalf of the studio.
Priyanka’s other Hollywood film Isn’t It Romantic will also hit the theatres in February next year. She will also be working on The Sky is Pink with Farhan Akhtar.
Cowboy Ninja Viking is set to be directed by Michelle MacLaren and focuses on a counter-intelligence unit of Multiple Personality Disorder patients formed by Ghislain, who are transformed into agents known as Triplets (referring to the three different personalities inside their minds).
After the unit falls apart, its various members are turned into hired killers. Duncan (Pratt), a Triplet who channels the skills of a Cowboy, Ninja, and Viking, is sent to find and stop his former teammates.
The movie will hit theatres on June 28, 2019.
