Aamir Khan bats for watershed management, urges people to become 'Jalmitra'

Aamir Khan insisted that watershed management changes the economic condition of a village.

Aamir Khan is not only known for his stellar performances and his perfectionist attitude, he is also loved for his social work. Aamir, today urged his fans and social media followers to become 'Jalmitra' and contribute to the cause of eradicating drought. The Dangal actor was live today on his Facebook page where he interacted with his fans.

Aamir, who is the founder of Paani Foundation is organising a 'Maha Shramdaan' on International Workers' Day- May 1 which is also Maharashtra Diwas. He requested people to join their mission of watershed management, either through shramdaan (voluntary labour) or donation. The result of the work will be seen in April and May when drought hits major parts of Maharashtra.

The actor insisted that watershed management changes the economic condition of a village. Also, it empowers children and women of the area. The actor was part of hit 2012 TV series Satyamev Jayate which focussed on social issues. The show affected the makers so much that they established an organisation to bring revolution in drought-ridden areas of Maharashtra.

On the professional front, Aamir is currently busy shooting for Vijay Krishna Acharya's Thugs Of Hindostan, co-starring Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
