S P Balasubramaniam birthday Happy birthday S P Balasubramaniam

Renowned Bollywood playback singer S P Balasubramaniam aka Balasubrahmanyam, who was born on June June 4, 1946, is celebrating his birthday today. The popular singer was known as the voice of Salman Khan in Bollywood movies, until over a decade ago when he decided to retire from singing and pursue a full-time career in acting and production. Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan and other singers soon stepped in to Balasubramaniam’s shoes and began singing for Salman in his films. But some of the actor’s biggest blockbusters in his young years, including his debut film as lead hero Maine Pyar Kiya and his superhit film Hum Aapke Hai Koun had Balasubramaniam lending him his heavy but soulful voice.

On S P Balasubramaniam’s birthday, here are five 5 best songs of Salman Khan’s 90s Voice in Bollywood.

Hum Aapke Hai Kaun: Pehla Pehla Pyaar Hai

This lovely ballad from Sooraj Barjatya’s blockbuster Hum Aapke Hain Koun? became a love anthem, thanks to SP Balasubrahmanyam’s velvety voice and Lata Mangeshkar’s melodious jugalbandi with him.

Yeh Raat Aur Yeh Doori - Andaz Apna Apna

SP Balasubramaniam goes  playful for an equally comical Salman Khan in this ageless comedy!

Saathiya Tune Kya Kiya - Love

This has to be everyone's favourite hands down! How can someone not love this evergreen romantic ditty?

Mere Rang Mein - Maine Pyar Kiya

Though nearly all songs in the movie are timeless classics, this sensual number is my personal fave!

Saajan: Tumse Milne Ki Tamanna Hai

This song is from the film Saajan (1991), starring Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt. It was a blockbuster and the music from the film played a vital role in making it a memorable one.
