Chennai, Aug 12: With his latest movie “Thalaiva” getting stalled in Tamil Nadu, popular Tamil actor Vijay who plays the lead role in the movie, has sought Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's intervention in releasing the movie.

“Our Chief Minister has been doing several good works for many people. I seek her intervention for the release of the movie in Tamil Nadu. Till then, I appeal to all my fans to be patient,” the actor said in a statement.
Stating that there were reports of pirated VCDs of his movie being circulated, he asked his fans to inform the police on whoever manufactures or distributes the VCDs.

The movie, slated to hit the screens in Tamil Nadu on August 9, was later put off as the producers and theatre owners, refused to screen it over security concerns.

The movie, directed by A Vijay, has Amala Paul as the lead actress.

It was expected to get released in at least 500 screens in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry but ran into trouble with some theatre owners receiving bomb threats from a little known outfit opposed to the film producers ‘Vendhar Movies'.

Besides, the film has also been dragged to court with one Karnan, hailing from Tirunelveli, claiming that it was based on the life of his grandfather S S Kandaswamy and his father S K Ramaswamy, who lived in Dharavi in Mumbai.
