The list of nine films that will be moving ahead to the next round of voting in the Foreign Language Film category at the prestigious 86th Academy Awards nominations has been out and there is no trace of any
Indian film marking its place.
And the much controversial Indian entry 'The Good Road' could not even survive amid the 9 listed films. The Gujrati film was chosen to represent the country in the category at the coveted awards event this year.
The film was not much appreciated and faced the criticism while going for the nominations.
The list which has been announced by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences includes, nine films sans the film of the director Gyan Correa. The other films that have successfully made up to the list are:
1. The Broken Circle Breakdown (Belgium,) - Director: Felix van Groeningen
2. An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker (Bosnia and Herzegovina) - Director: Danis Tanovic, director
3. The Missing Picture (Cambodia) - Director: Rithy Panh, director;
4. The Hunt (Denmark) - Director: Thomas Vinterberg
5. Two Lives (Germany) - Director: Georg Maas
6. The Grandmaster (Hong Kong) - Director: Wong Kar-wai
7. The Notebook (Hungary) - Director: Janos Szasz
8. The Great Beauty (Italy) - Director: Paolo Sorrentino
9. Omar (Palestine) - Director: Hany Abu-Assad
Out of these films, only 5 will be further short listed and will reach the final nominations that has to be announced on January 16, 2014.
