A 14-year-old boy, Rohit Shankar Thakur, ran away from his home in Jabalpur and went to Mumbai  just to have a glance at his Bollywood idol Salman Khan, reports MidDay. Fortunately, on Monday night, Mumbai police managed to trace him before he fell in to the wrong hands, thanks to a good samaritan.

The boy Rohit  told MidDay that he was an avid fan of Salman and wanted to catch a glimpse of his star. He ran from home with just a school bag containing two pairs of clothes. Police said, Rohit had boarded a train from Jabalpur and came to Mumbai on September 1.

Initially, when he came to the city, he was lost and slept on footpaths at Bandstand near Salman's Galaxy apartment, in the hope that he would catch a glance of Salman.

An unknown man escorted Rohit from Bandra bus depot to the police station at 12 midnight. Police said that the man told them that the boy was crying to meet Salman Khan.

Rohit said, "I came from Jabalpur to Mumbai to see Salman. I saw him in lots of movies, but now I want to see him in real life. He has a big heart and loves poor people.

“I tried to meet him, but the watchman of his building, refused to let me go. I do not want anything; I only want to meet Salman Khan. The day he will meet me, I will go back," he further added.

A police official of Bandra police station said, that when they offered him food, he refused to have it, and insisted that he just wanted to meet Salman.

"We have contacted his parents, who reside in Jabalpur, and they will be here within two days," said Police Sub-Inspector Sambhaji Bhoite.Rohit was still at Bandra police station and waiting for his parents' arrival on Tuesday morning.
