Mumbai:Veteran actress Sridevi, who made a roaring comeback with "English Vinglish", Wednesday left for Tokyo for the premiere of the entertainer's dubbed Japanese version.
"Off to Tokyo, Japan for super premiere of 'English Vinglish' dubbed in Japanese," Sridevi posted on her Twitter page.
The premiere will be held Thursday, while the film is slated to release across 33 screens in Japan June 28.
Akie Abe, wife of Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and popular Japanese singer Agnes Chan will be present for the premiere of the film, which had a worldwide release in October 2012.
It is following the exceptional success of the Gauri Shinde-directorial in new markets like Hong Kong, Germany, Taiwan and Korea that Eros International Media Ltd decided to give the movie a wide release in Japan.
The buzz for the film in Japan began last year itself when Shinde was invited to attend the prestigious Aichi International Women's Film Festival in August 2013 for the screening of the film.
The Japanese market has already proven to be a strong one for Eros with the company releasing Farah Khan's "Om Shanti Om" in 2013 across 14 screens which earned over $150,000 at the Japanese box office. The banner had also released "Chalo Dilli", "Agent Vinod" and "Student of the Year" in Japan.
