New Delhi: Actress Sonam Kapoor has always been someone who speaks her mind. The fashionista of B-town happens to have an opinion on everything that is happening around her. This morning, she broke her silence on the meat ban imposed in Mumbai.

To mark the Jain festival the city's civic body has prohibited the sale or slaughter of meat for four days starting Friday. While this started an outrage on Twitter with people opposing it, Sonam Kapoor became the butt of many jokes.

Sonam Kapoor posted a news piece on how the country is reacting to the imposed ban and captioned it with; “Our country is going to remain a 3rd world nation because of the intolerant misogynistic close minded few.”

The usage of the word misogynistic landed her in trouble. Her tweet wasn't welcomed and some went so far as to call her a bimbo. But the ferocious person she is, Sonam did not back down. She explained in her tweets that using the adjective ‘misogynistic' was not only for the meat ban but for the general mentality.

Here are a few answers the 30-year-old actress gave:

After exchanging tweets for a while, Sonam gave up. She took to Twitter again to clarify her stand and wrote, “Before being judgmental assholes. What I said was a critique of the general mentality .. Which is not exclusive to the banning of meat.”

Journalist Barkha Dutt and writer Chetan Bhagat too came to her rescue and applauded her for standing up for what she believed.
