Mumbai: The upcoming period drama ‘Bajirao Mastani' seems to have landed in a big trouble. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed film has been under the scanner for a while now.
Earlier, the song ‘Pinga' brought a lot of criticism for the director for not getting his facts right. And then another song ‘Malhari' was disapproved by a section of the audience because of the word ‘Waat-Laavli' in it.
And the latest hitch in the film's way is a Shiv Sena MLA who has asked the Maharashtra government to stop the release of this Ranveer-Deepika-Priyanka starrer.
MLA from Thane District, Pratap Sarnaik, has urged Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis to not let the film to release until SLB cuts out the controversial scenes from the film.
“The film will be first shown to the legislators and then only the permission will be granted for its release,” Sarnaik said.
He intends to not only stop the film's release in Maharashtra but all over India. He said, “Hence those who are not aware of the deeds of Bajirao Peshwa, Maratha history and Marathi culture will be mislead into harbouring perverted notion. This will cause pain to the Maharashtrian community,”
The Sena leader states that, “Until and unless no proper guidance and directions are received from the heirs of Bajirao Peshwa (I) and historians and the scenes that are causing pain to the Maharashtrian people are not deleted, till then permission for the release of the film should not be granted.''
Well, it looks like the odds are really up against the dream project of SLB.
