Mumbai, Oct 3: Shilpa Shetty's long-stalled film ‘The Desire- A Journey of a Woman' is getting laurels at various festivals across the world.
After her marriage, Shilpa will be seen on the big screen for the first time through this film, which is directed by R Sarath and produced by her mother Sunanda Shetty.
‘The Desire -A Journey of a Woman' has caught the attention of everyone as it has been screened at several international festivals across the globe, including the Geneva Film Festival, Boston International Film Festival and New York City International Film festival.
The film has also won awards, like for the Best Narrative Feature Film at the Geneva Film Festival, Best Production by a Woman Producer and Best Background Score at the New Jersey Independent South Asian Cine Fest (NJISACF). Shilpa was nominated in the Best Actress category at the same festival.
“I am absolutely delighted and overwhelmed as a debut producer to receive awards and nomination at the NJISACF Festival. Shilpa's performance is brilliant and I hope she bags the Best Actress Award...keeping fingers crossed,” film-producer and Shilpa's mother, Sunanda said.
‘The Desire..' stars Shilpa and Chinese actor Xia Yu in lead roles, along with actress Jaya Prada, Anupam Kher, Sheetal Menon and Sachin Khedekar.
In the film, Shilpa essays the role of Goutami, a celebrated Odissi dancer and Xia Yu plays Jai Leang, an artist. The film is yet to hit cinema houses. PTI
