New Delhi, Oct 19: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit has urged Bollywood star Aamir Khan and Star India CEO Uday Shankar to bring a new season of TV show "Satyamev Jayate", which brought soul-stirring social issues to the fore.

Aamir and Shankar were Thursday honoured for creating awareness against social discrimination through "Satyamev Jayate". The honour was conferred to them by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes at a function here.

Dixit, who was at the ceremony, lauded the channel's efforts of conceptualizing a show like "Satyamev Jayate" and giving people a platform to talk about their struggles.

"Is show se bahut saare logon ki jo ankhein band thi, woh khuli hai (This show has been an eye-opener). It's my request to Mr. Uday Shankar to bring back the show as I would want the people of this country to witness the pain again and stand against it as one team," Dixit said.

The ceremony also saw the presence of several political leaders, including union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni and Minister for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja.

Through the 13-week series "Satyamev Jayate", Aamir brought forth startling facts and statistics related to female foeticide, child sex abuse, medical malpractice, manual scavenging and dowry.

He followed it up off the screen by meeting concerned leaders to ensure that the problems are resolved. Aamir received his share of praise and brickbats, but he was determined to drive home some awareness.
