Bollywood actor Sameera Reddy has refused several offers to perform item songs in films. Her dance number in Priyadarshan's film Aakrosh has attracted lot of attention in Bollywood, reports DNA.
“I've always had offers to do item numbers, which I've been steadfastly refusing. But I decided to make an exception and agreed to do it since it was Priyan sir's film. I am certainly not doing another one anytime soon,” she says. So, is she trying to move away from the sexy tag? “No. All that I am trying to do is show that there's more to me than just being sexy. And I think I've done that to a large extent. I think sexy has nothing to do with showing hot dance moves on screen anyway,” she explains.
Gearing up for her action role in another Priyadarshan film Bullet Train, the actor's been training rigorously to perform several stunt sequences herself and has even learnt biking.
So is she planning to be Bollywood's answer to Tomb Raider Angelina Jolie? “Well, I hope so. Playing a role like her's has been a dream ever since I've joined Bollywood. With this film, I'm already realising a huge part of it,” adds the sexy actor who's now shedding further weight to fit the role to a T.
Being in New York was part of that fitness regime and it seems to have done wonders too, as the actor is looking fitter than ever before.
“It was a detox three-week,” she says about her stay there. “I was completely into power yoga, health food and loads of spiritual healing. The experience was something else altogether. I even kept my cell-phone switched off during my time there,” she adds.
But squeezing in another break between her hectic shoots in Bollywood and down South may be near impossible at the moment considering the pace at which she's shooting for her films.
“That's good na. I am really enjoying being so busy and doing the kind of roles that've long been on my wish-list. Touchwood to that!”
