New Delhi: A key witness in the hit and run case involving Bollywood actor Salman Khan deposed before the court today. The witness is a doctor who had examined Salman just after the incident.

As reported by a leading daily, Dr. Shashi Kant Pawar, employed in the government run JJ Hospital testified that Salman's gait was normal and his speech was coherent at the time of his examination after the accident.

The court has set the next date of hearing on January 27.

The last hearing of the case on January 20 took an interesting turn when the doctor asked for police protection through special public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat.  However, the case did not commence as Salman's lawyer could not come to the court because of his bad health.

On the September 28, 2002 incident a car rammed into a sidewalk near a bakery, killing one person and injuring four others. The cops claim that it was Salman driving the car and he was intoxicated.

In December last year, a forensic expert had testified that he had found traces of alcohol in the blood samples sent to him.
