The most talked about multilingual film ‘Baahubali' has finally hit the theatres and as expected the film received an overwhelming response from the audience right from the beginning.

The film, which is said to be the most expensive production in the history of Indian cinema, has been directed by S. S. Rajamouli. Starring Prabhas, Rana Dagubatti and Anushka Shetty, Baahubali was released on July 10, 2015 at 4000 screens worldwide.

The film recorded the highest-grossing opening for an Indian film at the box-office as it collected a whopping Rs 50 crores on the day of it release.

As Baahubali is topping the charts with a collection of Rs. 255 crore in a week, it has made director S.S Rajamouli as one of the major South Indian hit-makers in the industry.

But he is not the only Southern director who rocked B-town. Here's a list of five South Indian directors who tried their luck in Bollywood:

Mani Ratnam:

Known as Steven Spielberg of South, Mani Ratnam's films show signs of his masterclass. Although his debut movie in Bollywood, Dil Se, failed to make a mark on box office, the music of the film won the hearts of many, thanks to A R Rahman.

While his films like Roja and Bombay were successful on the box office, his other films Yuva and Guru also did good business and were critically acclaimed as well.

Though Ratnam's Raavan failed miserably, still one can't challenge his capability.
