Mumbai, Jul 6 : Basking in the glory of the success of ‘Gangs of Wasseypur', filmmaker Anurag Kashyap says he is happy the way the film has performed at the box office and that he never aimed at the Rs 100 crore mark.

Directed, produced and co-written by Anurag Kashyap, ‘Gangs of Wasseypur', a crime film, explores a revenge saga through the socio-political dynamics in a place called Wasseypur in North India about the coal and scrap trade mafia.

“Though people liked the film, in the first three days we did not so much collections. But even then, the first three days' collection has been the biggest collection of my life.

The kind of film this is and the kind of actors there are, the collection was big for us,” Kashyap told reporters here last night at the success party of ‘Gangs of Wasseypur'.  “It is a film where barring Manoj Bajpai people don't know anyone.

Plus, the film had everything going against it like the two parts, one part being an incomplete story, then the kind of language it had, adult certificate. You know people see the negative points more,” he said.

The two-part revenge saga stars Manoj Bajpai,Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Huma Qureshi, Richa Chadda, Reema Sen and Tigmanshu Dhulia.

On if he aimed at Rs 100 crore mark at the box office, Kashyap says, “It (Rs 100 crore) is too much of an expectation. But if it happens then it is good. Even if we don't cross Rs 100 crore, it is fine. All I want is that whoever has worked on the film should make profit, everybody should earn money.”

“'Avengers' did so much business in one show what ‘3 Idiots' made totally at the box office. If you compare my film with ‘3 Idiots', then I should compare that with ‘Avengers'.  So this comparison is unfair. I think one must see the picture according to its budget,” he said.

The filmmaker revealed that the two part film was made at a budget of Rs 18.50 crore and it did a business of Rs 27-28 crore.

Several B-town celebrities praised the movie including megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who took to twitter to appreciate the film.

“I have got acceptance after a long time and I am happy about it. I wanted to get accepted for the films I make.  A lot of directors who I think very highly off have called me.

Bachchan Saab (Amitabh Bachchan) tweeted also and it made so much of a difference. Also, Ekta Kapoor loved the film...she called me up,” Kashyap said.

The second part of ‘Gangs of Wasseypur' will hit screens on August 8.
