New Delhi: The trailer of the much awaited 'Bajirao Mastani' starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra was released on Friday amidst much fanfare in Mumbai.
The Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed magnum opus, a period film revolving around 18th century warrior Peshwa Bajirao's romance, is set to release on December 18.
While Priyanka Chopra couldn't make it back home for the trailer release, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali were present at the film's trailer launch event.
"I am overwhelmed...its not a movie it's an experience. I might breakdown. It's an amazing feeling. We have given our sweat, blood, tears, passion...lot of hard work," Deepika said at the launch event.
Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali came on the stage and hugged the 29-year-old actress and the two looked emotional. "I am in a confused state ...it's an emotional moment. It's a film made out of passion," he said.
Ranveer, who plays Bajirao, was all praise for 52-year-old Bhansali, known for the grandeur of his film sets and magnificence of his on-screen characters. "He is one of the finest filmmakers of Indian cinema," he said.
However, the film has landed into controversy, with the descendant of Bajirao Peshwa I alleging that historical facts have been "altered" while portraying the late king and his wives Kashibai and Mastani in the film.
Bhansali left soon after the trailer was launched while the leading actors of the film Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone chose to keep mum on the issue.
