New Delhi: Bollywood queen Rani Mukerji who has turned 37 today will be celebrating a special birthday with her new family today. As this is her first birthday after she tied the knot with Chopra scion - Aditya Chopra last year in April 2014.
The Bong beauty has been one of the iconic divas of Bollywood and has been ruling millions of heart since decades. Rani who recently showcased a power packed performance in ‘Mardaani' has been known for such strong roles in films. Be it her stunning performance as a blind and deaf girl in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ‘Black' along with Amitabh Bachchan or her chirpy girl role in 'Bunty and Bubbly', Rani has showed her distinctive style from her very first film. It wasn't easy for this actress to mark her presence in this world of fierce competition.

She stepped in cinema at a very young age with a low budget movie, titled ‘Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat'. The movie going cold at the box office, compelled Rani to step back for pursuing her studies, though was admired for her performance.
Rani's voice being her demerit was asked for her line to be dubbed by another artiste in the movie ‘Ghulam'.
But the actress finally realised this weakness when asked by Karan Johar to work in 'Kuch-Kuch Hota Hai'.
The queen worked upon her voice and it became her trademark thereafter. The flick not only went superhit but also claimed her first Filmfare Award in the supporting role.
Her husky voice was no more a reason for her downfall in the film industry and she was welcomed with open arms in other flicks.

There was no stoppage as Rani delivered the most challenging role of her life with excellence in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ‘Black'. Playing a blind-deaf character was never an easy job, but the actress delivered it with perfection and won numerous awards.
Bunty Aur Bubli and Paheli were the other commercial hits which Rani gave to the industry in the same year.
It was first time for the actress playing a foul-mouthed TV journalist in “No one killed Jessica”. More likely Rani delivered the act of a man, and was critically acclaimed winning once again Best Supporting Actress Award.
With not too much to wait, the queen was seen in sexy avatar in ‘Bombay Talkies'.
In 2014 Rani returned with Mardaani post her wedding to Aditya Chopra. The actress gave a power packed performance, while playing a police officer - Shivani Shivaji Roy. The film that was directed by Pradeep Sarkar was highly acclaimed and Rani was appreciated for her role worldwide.
