Mumbai: Actor Randeep Hooda would be seen in a cameo appearance in the forthcoming Saif Ali Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer “Cocktail”.
The Homi Adajania directed romantic comedy stars Saif, Deepika and debutante Diana Penty besides Dimple Kapadia and Boman Irani.
“He is playing a cameo. He is making a special appearance in the film. It was a character that we were talking about, and we were looking for someone. Randeep's name came up and Homi spoke to him. He (Randeep) liked his part and he came on board,” producer Dinesh Vijan, told PTI.
After impressive acts in “Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai”, “Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster” and “Jannat 2”, Randeep has some big films like “Jism 2” and “Heroine” in his kitty.
“Randeep is a fantastic actor, he is superb. He is a really good actor and we want to work with him really soon.” he said.
After their chemistry clicked with the audience in “Love Aaj Kal” and “Aarakshan”, Saif and Deepika have been casttogether for the third time in “Cocktail”.
“Saif heard the script and he really liked it. Then we gave the script to Deepika and offered her both the roles, she chose Veronica.
Then we thought the correct twist in this ‘Cocktail' will be to cast a newcomer, fresh face for the role of Meera,” Vijan said.
“So the first girl we met was Diana Penty and I was going for a shoot and she was coming in, so we met. Homi and I did a screen test and we both somewhere saw a Meera in her.
She is a model, she is perfect on ramp but we had to de-glam her. In her personal life she is very simple, shy and introvert girl.. she is close to Meera,” he said.
Releasing on July 13, ‘Cocktail' is made under Saif's banner Illuminati Films.
“This ‘Cocktail' has got a crazy Gautam, a wild Veronica and real Meera, superb director and me as a producer.
This Cocktail is right and in place. We have put our best foot forward there is no point of worrying about things right now.
We have done what we could, we gave our best. And I hope everyone likes it,” Vijan concluded.
