Yeh dosti, hum nahin chhodengey. There are reports that films and ads offered to Ranbir Kapoor end up being done by his close mate Imran Khan. It either could be a bid to take their friendship to a different level altogether, or it could simply be meant to keep out competitors, says a media report. Ranbir Kapoor is pushing some lucrative assignments offered to him, and which he's not able to do for some reason, to buddy Imran Khan.
"A soft drink commercial was one of the first assignments that came to Ranbir first, which he couldn't do as he was doing a similar one already. It was passed onto Imran," says the report quoting a source. Sources say that Ranbir and Imran, being fast friends, don't have an ego doing each other's projects. "Ranbir will first ask Imran if he wants to take up the offer that was first offered to him. And Imran has no problem taking it up if he likes it. It doesn't come across to him that Ranbir rejected it. They share a good equation between them," the source adds.
However, there are some who believe that by adopting these tactics, the Ranbir-Imran jodi are thwarting the prospects of actors like Shahid Kapoor. "Ranbir is sure about himself. On Karan Johar's chat show, most guests felt Ranbir had better prospects than Imran," says another source, adding that his only compeition was Shahid other than Imran himself.
Ranbir and Imran had even planned a joint production house and a film where they will star together, sources say. However, there's a small hitch. "Avantika is not at all close to Ranbir. She was reportedly overheard sometime back criticising one of Ranbir's movies. Though Imran and Ranbir are still friends, nobody knows the equation with Avantika and Ranbir. However, it will work in Imran's favour if he doesn't muddle up the equation with Ranbir at the moment," says a close friend of both.
