Kolkata, Jul 18: Mourning Rajesh Khanna's death, legendary film-maker Mrinal Sen today said the departed superstar had promised to act in one of his films.
“He used to tell me that he will be there whenever I call him to act. He said I am at your disposal and will give you as many dates as you want. He was very keen to act in my film,” the 90-year-old Dadasaheb Phalke awardee told PTI.
But, for unknown reasons it could never work out. “In fact, a producer was also ready but somehow it didn't materialise as he might have become busy with his Hindi film assignments,” Sen said.
Describing Khanna, who passed away in Mumbai earlier in the day, as a very good actor who had a very strong fan following, Sen said he would have been happy had the actor starred in one his films.
Recalling that he had met Khanna during his trip to Kolkata, he said, “He was only 69. He died very young, I am sad to hear that”.
